dahotfix.exe has encounter a problem

I've been trying to download the latest security update
patch for the last 3 months. It downloads fine, but when
it trys to install itself, it stops abruptly with the
following erro:

"dahotfix.exe has encounter a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

After I let it close, it tells you "Installation
Complete", but a few days later, it asks you to download
it again. How can I fix this?

What update are you trying to install?
Download the latest MDAC 2.8 from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads

FYI - The latest MDAC includes update 823718.
