CX6600 No printout

I am looking at an Epson CX6600 for a friend.

A few days ago, he ran out of black ink, and replaced the cartridge
with the second one from a two-pack (probably a year old). The
printer would not print in black. He returned the cart to the store
and got a fresh one-pack. Installed that and still no printout.

The unit has been run through at least 4 nozzel cleaning cycles,
causing the displayed black ink level to go from 100% to 70%. However,
the nozzle check cycle still gives a blank page.

I have gone through the tests with Tech (??) support to no avail. They
say take it to a service center or get a new one from their loyalty
web site.

I keep thinking that there is something I am missing. I still
remember an old LaserJet II that developed a missing area down one
side that was a real mystery until I noticed an internal label that
was loose on one side and dropped into the laser path when the cover
was closed.

My hope is that someone has had my problem and knows a trick to solve
it. The carts have ink, the controler seems to do something in the
cleaning cycle, but no printout. All 4 carts are affected.

Thanks in advance.

There is absolutely no output in any colour when you run the nozzle check,
right? If so the purge pump may have failed, or a tube connecting it to the
capping station may have come loose. It could also be a printhead failure but
they do not usually fail in the way you describe, usually one or more of the
colours will still work.

I have a manual which will instruct you exactly how to resolve this
problem. It is free for the asking and you will not be spammed. It
incorporates using regular cheap household cleaners and products
available at most grocery stores.

I have been having some problems with getting my email through my
regular email address

e-printerhelp(at)mvps(dot)org

and it is intermittent, so if you get a bounce, please try the
alternative address below which I will use temporarily and hopefully my
regular address will be back in full service my Monday.

In the meantime, you can send your request to:
