I have a computer that had 1800 spyware products, that Ad-aware has
found and removed today. I also loaded Spybot search and destroy and it
brought the need of CWS Shredder to my attention rapidly.

I have run spybot until this is the only thing left to remove. their
are 27 cool-web things that Spybot Search & destroy can not fix, I need
to restart the computer and run it again.

it restarts finds 27 cool-web things under one entry, but will not
remove them. I have looked in the programs, and see nothing more to
remove, and have downloaded CWS Shredder which does not find any thing.

Any suggestions?

You could go down the route of HJT or you could install Kaspersky
Antivirus as a trial and remove them this way. Kaspersky would be the
easier option.

Ian,

Took a long time, but with kaspersky calling cool-web stuff Trojans, it
eliminated the most of the Highjacking this spyware does...

Computer one, had 1530 viruses, and 2080 in spyware that Ad Aware found
and eliminated. Spybot search and destroy would report 79 items, and
delete 51 of them in safe mode, but they always reappear. Then I got
aggressive eliminating the remaining logs, exe, and dat files that were
in windows that could not be eliminated by Spybot Search and destroy or
kaspersky.

Then in safemode ad-aware, SS&D scanned clean. Back in real mode
kaspersky found everything that SS&D had in the recover folder. SS&D
also reported 15 coolweb Items, but Microsoft's spyware found the same
15 items and cleaned them. It also cleared up the Blue Error Nuker
problem.

Computer two - Kaspersky eliminated 6063 viruses that Norton did not
find. It was fully up-dated, but useless. I removed Norton, installed
Kaspersky and eliminated all of the infected files. I had to do this
because of the software that ran several milling machines. They do not
have a complete set of disks, to reload the software that runs these
expenisve machines.

Four of the files were damaged by something, or the removal of the
infected files, but i was able to identify the damaged files, and
replace them from the CD they did have. All is well with two of the
computers, and have only one more to disinfect.

Could not believe norton allowed 6,063 virus and trojan files to
disrupt this computer that is connected to the internet.

This I expected!

You need to review your security policy. This is obvious from this
last paragraph.

Thats great news. Well done. We love hearing good news. Not much of it
here sometimes.

I wonder who will dump Symantec and purchase Kaspersky?
