Customizing Colors in OE

I've got Outlook Express set up to show the folders over on the left hand side
of the screen. When I select and click on a folder over there, the newsgroup
gets highlighted in a medium blue... very easy to see. The second I click on
any messages within the folder, that blue turns to a very pale gray... very
difficult to see. What specifically in the display settings do I need to
address to select a more easily seen color... even a slightly darker gray?

Have you tried asking the experts in the OE newsgroups?

Uh... I thought I would ask the experts in the XP Customize newsgroup. Aren't
there any here?

Try setting up a rule:
On the Menu bar click Tools > Message Rules > News > New button.
In Box 1 scroll to and select "For all messages".
In Box 2 select "Highlight it with color".
In Box 3 click the underlined word "color", click the dropdown arrow and select
your color.
In Box 4 type in a name for the rule.
Click Ok > Ok > Apply Now.
Click the Browse button.
Click the Main ng category to highlight, not any sub category.
Click Ok > Apply Now > Ok > Close > Ok.

Open a sub category and it should all be in the color you chose. If you wish
for something different, open the news rules, select a rule and click the Modify
button. Make any changes you wish and Ok > Apply > Ok out.

You can change this in the Appearance section of the Display properties. There is a slight 'gotcha' here because the change will effect some other elements of Windows.

Open Control Panel/Display/Appearance Tab/Advanced Button. In the Item drop down menu, select 3D Objects and change the Color 1. You will see a preview of the change and which items it will apply to at the top portion of that dialog box.

By George, I think you've got it. That was *exactly* what I was looking for.
Thank you so much.
