Customized menu/toolbars and templates

I'm working on a template and know how to protect the styles and put buttons
in a toolbar, and I figured out do to customize the toolbar menus to hide
certain buttons (so that users will only see the buttons they need and won't
be tempted by superfoolous features).

How can I toggle on/off the customization so I can continue development
without losing access to standard menu lists myself? Can I attach the
customized toolbar view(s) to a "release version" of a template while I
continue free reign with a "dev version"?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?S2luZCB3cml0ZXIvdXNlci9wcm9ncmFtbWVy?=,

You might want to ask in the word.vba.addins newsgroup for ideas about this. My
feeling is that you'd probably need a pair of macros you can run to "change
states" as required.
