Customized buttons disappear when I exit

I am trying to customize my toolbars.

I can add buttons and they stay in the toolbars until I exit from Word 2003.
When I open Word again, my customized buttons are missing and I have to add
them again.

Any suggestions as to how to keep the buttons there?

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, then the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents Word from
automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template (which is where
toolbar customizations are stored). See

Yes, I have Adobe Standard 7, and installing the latest updates fixed the
problem.
