Customize Media Folders

Under the properties for 'My Pictures' and 'My Music' you can Customize a
folder for Pictures, Photo Album, Music Artist or Music Album.

What do these do? And why is one better than the other?

What is the difference between a Pictures folder and a Photo Album folder?

Also, under the Save File dialog, is there a way to maintain the view as a
list rather than thumbnails under My Pictures?

Thanks a bunch!

Actually, you have these options for any file folder that is not designated a system folder.

They determine which tasks are available in the Tasks pane, and, if the customization is applied
before the folder is opened for the first time, provide different default columns for the 'Details'
view.

A Pictures folder will default to thumbnail view, Photo Album to filmstrip.

Nope. :-(
Thanks a bunch!

Your welcome!

If a folder is set as Music folder you get the related common tasks, such as
Play All, etc.

If a folder is set as Photo or Pictures folder you get the related common
tasks, such as View as a slide show, etc.

You can view your pictures as a filmstrip in any My Pictures subfolder or
any folder customized as a pictures folder.

Filmstrip view is available in picture folders. Your pictures appear in a
single row of thumbnail images. You can scroll through your pictures using
the left and right arrow buttons. If you click a picture, it is displayed as
a larger image above the other pictures. To edit, print, or save the image
to another folder, double-click the picture.

Music (best for audio files and playlists)
Music Artist (best for works for one artist)
Music Album (best for tracks from one abum)
What is the difference between a Pictures folder and a Photo Album folder?

Pictures (best for many files)

Photo Album ( best for fewer files)
Also, under the Save File dialog, is there a way to maintain the view as a
list rather than thumbnails under My Pictures?
