customize a field format for Outlook Inbox different from offered

I would like to customize a field in Outlook for the Inbox, but don't see
what I want in the choices offered under "Format column." (E.g. under
received, I would like to use "We 10/11/06" for Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006.)
Is it possible to do this?

That is controlled by the long date setting in windows if I recall.
