Customising "Favourite folders"

I'm using OL2003. I would like to be able to add my
Journal to the favourite folders. I see that all of the
mail folders have a menu item (right click) to add them to
favourite folders, but this is not available for the
Journal folder (or, apparently, for any folders other than
mail folders).
Is there some way to do it that I am missing?

The Mail navigation pane shows only mail folders. You can't add any other
type of folder there.
