HI, Newsgroup!

I am quiet a new in Xpe. I would like to know: Is there a tool which whom I
can customize my XPe-Image? For example: Where I can change network-settings
or background-colour and so on.
Can this tool be downloaded at msdn or do I have to buy it seperately?

Thanks in advance.
Klaus

Dear Langer,

If you want to customize your XPE image, you should use Target Designer.

You can make changes, ex. settings, registry ... , in components.

As Bing Chen said, customization is done in Target Designer. After the
system is deployed and successfully completes the First Boot Agent, you can
manually configure your run-time OS, given that the proper components are
built in (such as the Display Control Panel for changing the desktop).

If there is anything in particular that you'd like to customize about your
OS from within Target Designer, just post your question in this forum. You
can also search the Google Groups archives.

Thanks for the answers, but let me allow to ask another stupid question:
Where do I get the "target designer"???

I found it .... sorry, folks ;o)

Get Windows XP Embedded eval version:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/getstart/evaluate/default.aspx

But this won't allow you to modify existing image that you have but rather to create your image from scratch.

If you want only to do small customizations to existing XPe image then I would use regedit and mount offline registry hives from XPe
image and modify them.

Best regards,
Slobodan
