Custom toolbar

Hi all - Access 2002 XP - WinMe

Is it possible to create a custom toolbar with your own custom buttons or
labels? I know how to do the mouse over effect, but, I would like to know if
it is possible to create such a custom toolbar that would remain visible
from form to form as does the Standard Tb.

If so, I would truly appreciate any suggestions or perhaps a site that might
provide information on how to do this.

Best regards,
Jan :)

Right-Click on any toolbar and select Customize. The resulting dialog is used
for making changes to existing menubars and toolbars and it also allows you to
make totally new ones as well.

To be sure I understand, to make a new custom toolbar, I can create my own
command buttons or labels, with specific custom commands or macros to
perform a function or task, and put then on the new toolbar? Or, do you mean
select certain commands from the existing list and place them on the new
toolbar?

Thank you very much for your time and assistance, I really do appreciate it.

Yep, basically your only limited by your imagination.

You can do that as well, but be careful about modifying the existing menu
and toobars, which is quite easy to do. Might also be good to practice on a
dummy database. You can always reset the built-in ones if you mess up.

Ah..verrry good. Yeah..I make it a rule to always test with a dummy db.
That way, there are no hard feelings on either side when one of us messes
up. <g>

Thank you very much for the additional information, Jeff. I really do
appreciate it. I'm gonna go practice feeding the birds.

It should also be pointed out that customization to the built-in Toolbars
and Menubars affects your local installation of Access. Those
customizations would not appear on anyone else's PC if you sent them your
file. Bars that you create from scratch are stored in your MDB file and
will be available to other users if you give them your file.

Yes...this is something I was wondering about. That in order to be used by
others, the toolbar, being that it would not be a standard issue, would have
to be included in some manner for it to be set up by other users. In
regards to the primary db, I have a copy on the network for all department
managerial staff to access. There are others that are only used by the
Superintendent of our dept. and myself so they are copied direct to his
computer. While it may not be a problem to provide a copy of my file for his
computer and our dept. Supervisor's, I am wondering about the network copy.
There's information that is available in this db only that is updated on a
monthly basis, which our Central Control and Transportation dept.'s also
need to have access to for emergency response information. However, the
network copy is a read only file, and there's still the existing navigation
system that they are used to, so this may not be an immediate issue in that
regard.

Thank you very much for bringing up this important point. I truly appreciate
your additional input on this issue.

Jan :)
