Custom Toolbar queries

Firstly, am I correct that if I want a friend who is running the same
version 2002 as I am, and the same XP, to have the same Excel macros, UDFs,
and toolbars, as I have, I should send her a copy of my Personal.xls file
and my Excel10.xlb file, and get her to save them into the same folders as
on my PC in place of the versions that she may have there already?

Secondly, If we did not do the above, and I wanted to send her a workbook
and her to have the same macros, UDFs, and toolbars available while working
on that workbook, what would I need to do, if it is possible, to have my
extra facilities incorporated/attached into the xls file that I send?

Extensive Googling has not revealed a lot on this aspect.

TIA

First, if she already has a personal.xls file, then either she'll have file name
contentions--she may not want to loose any of her macros. And she can't have
two files named personal.xls open at the same time.

And just my opinion, if your set of macros and UDF's are specific to this
workbook/function, then I'd name something nice and unique and make it an addin.

And have the addin create the toolbar modifications and toolbars whenever it
loads--and cleans up after it closes.

It can be a pain to make sure that the macros associated with icons on a
customized toolbar point at the same location--and locations of folders may be
the same--but a lot of this type thing depends on how she set up excel when she
installed it. (Versions of excel and versions of Windows, along with user
choices can affect these locations.)

That said, I've shared my personal.xla file with people at work--it was before I
knew any better and now I'm kind of trapped (rather--they're kind of trapped).

And I've copied my *.xlb to a network drive for other users to copy to their
pc's. But my customized toolbars are customizations from Tools|customize--all
built in options--no macros at all.

And when I help copy this to it's new location, I make sure they haven't
modified their own toolbars--else mine will overwrite theirs. If they want a
copy, I have them create a new toolbar in xl. Then close excel and use windows
start button|find/search to look for *.xlb. Then I plop my version in that
location and give it a nice name (deleting the temporary version).

I wish I could go back in time to not use personal.xla as a name. But the
customized (no macros--just built in customizing) toolbars don't bother me at
all.
