I have put my own stationary into ms outlook in the stationary file. The
problem arises when I start typing. The font is in new times roman. My
default font in ms word is verdana. The default font in ms outlook mail
format is verdana. When I have the 'Use Microsoft Word 2003 to edit email
messages' checked for some reason when I open a new message the default font
is new times roman. If I do not use word as my email aditor then the default
font is verdana. I would like to use word as an editor and have my new email
messages default font be verdana. Please help.

Thank you

Hello Tim,

You are the king.

I open the file and changed the font to verdana 10 and saved and put it back
in the appropriate directory.then I selected word as my editor under the mail
tab under options and it works again. Thanks.

HI Tim,

Umm sadly it worked on my computer but when I tried it on another office
computer it didn't work. ???

Bummer...do you mean you found the email.dot file, edited it, and the
changes did not take affect? I had forgotten that Outlook 2003 really
doesn't use email.dot any more...so I'm not sure how it could have worked on
your PC. In Outlook 2003/2007 it uses Word's normal.dot. You could also try
editing normal.dot. If that doesn't work, rename normal.dot to something
else. Then when you edit a new message for the first time, a new normal.dot
file will be created.

Good luck.

Tim

Hi Tim

Thanks again. My current normal.dot has verdana set as the default font
however I'll try renaming it and see what happpens.

Cheers,

I have seen conflicting opinions on the net regarding email.dot...so I'm not
sure what to believe. One thing though...make sure you are looking at the
normal.dot that your account is using. I believe sometimes there is a "main"
normal.dot as well as another for specific logins. I seem to remember
getting tripped up by that at one time. It seemed like the "special" one
wasn't created until I modified it. Renaming it should help clarify that. If
a new one isn't created in that folder, then you'll know that is not the
template file being used by Word/Outlook. But I am not an Office/Outlook
expert so I could be totally wrong. I've been on Vista and Office 2007 since
the beta days and am slowly forgetting the "old" days of XP and Office 2003.

Tim
