Custom Menu Headaches.

Gary

I have a cust menu bar which looks fine in customize. But it's not
working in my database. I have edited startup options, but am getting
an error message saying that the

'the customer toolbar 'cust main' is the wrong type (menu, shortcut
menu or toolbar) for the property its being used in'

my menu is being displayed but i need to get rid of this message.
further the default access menu bar refuses to dissapear, how do i stop
it loading with my database?

i have looked all over the startup options, but can't get rid of it.

Thanks-

Gary.

It sounds to me that you either got

a) in your startup form, in the "other" tab, you specified a menu bar,
or a tool bar (but, AFTER you done this, you changed the property setting of
the menu bar to a tool bar (or the reverse).

b) You simply got the wrong type specified for the startup menu bar (ie:
it is a tool bar, and you need it to be a menu bar).

So, check the startup forms "other" tab, and remove the tool bar, and menu
bar setting (just check to make sure they are blank).

Now, bring up your menu/tool bar in customize mode.

When you "highlight" your tool bar in the Customize dialog, (the Toolbars
tab), then click on the "properties " button
(that is the one below

New
Rename
Delete
Reset
Properties <----choose this one

Make sure the "type" setting is that of a menu bar, and not a tool bar.

Next, after doing the above, now check your startup form, and the "other"
tab.

Next, check the tools->startup options dialog

Note that the tools->startup options drop down box to set the "menu bar"
will show all of the possible menu bars you can use, so don't force the
entry, but ALWAYS select it from the drop down in the startup options...
