Custom image in mail item

J

Julieta Prandi

Hi,
I've been asking some days ago about changing the image of a mail item.
Dmitri asked me that there are 2 ways:
- Seting the PR_ICON_INDEX property of the mail item.
- Changing the class of the message.

I want to implement the second: create my own message class with a different
icon.
I created a custom form (this is the same that creating a message class?)
but I cannot change the default icon in the designer.
How can I change the icon of my form?

Thanks on advance,
(- July -)

Go to the Properties tab of the form when in design mode and use the large
and small icon buttons to select large and small icons to use with that
custom form's message class. Also make sure you fill in the Version field
and increment it each time you publish a new version of the form so the
forms cache knows to update from the new version.

Are the icons you are selecting icons that match the requirements for
Outlook item icons? See if selecting a standard icon for a different item
type works as an experiment. For example, select to use an appointment icon
for your custom email and see if that works.

The standard icons are usually located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office11\Forms\{langID}, where {langID} would be 1033 for US English
and would vary based on your installed language. The "Office11" would vary
by Outlook version of course.

For Outlook 2003 the large icons must be 16x16 and 32x32 in 4 bit color (16
colors) for large icons and 32x32 for small icons (4 bit and 8 bit color).

No, I'm out of ideas. I'd start another post and direct it to Dmitry and see
if he has any ideas.
