Custom Form - Reading Pane Issue

Hello,
I've got a custom form that opens fine when the reading pane is
disabled but does not work when the reading pane is on. Now I know from
reading back posts that you cannot customize the actual reading pane, but all
I want to happen is when I double-click to open the actual email message,
that it display in my custom form. This works fine if the reading pane option
is completely off, but works sporadically when the reading pane is on (will
work maybe 1 in 10 times...which is even stranger).

Any thoughts???

You can customize the read form, but, unless you have specific needs to do so,
you shouldn't. The trick is to turn off the split form function and design all
the parts that are the same. Then split the form and design the unique parts of
each form.

I suspect that you would be better off redesigning your form from scratch with
the split form feature turned off. Make sure you don't try to design the unique
parts of the read pane until all the common parts are designed.

What happens when the reading pane is on?

When the reading pane is on and I double-click to open the message, 9 times
out of 10 the standard IPM.Note form comes up. As soon as I turn off the
reading pane and double click the same message, the custom form opens
perfectly.

The strange part is that there seems to be little consistancy. With the
reading pane ON, I can open the message 3 times and it opens in standard
IPM.Note. Then on the 4th time, it might open in my custom form.

But with reading pane OFF, it opens fine (with custom form) every time
without fail.
