Custom desktop settings periodically revert to defaults

On two of my machines equipped with XP Home, my theme choice, wallpaper
choice, and screesaver choice are lost on reboot, but only occasionally. I
end up with all the XP Home default settings. I have saved what I want as My
Favorite Theme, and if I select My Favorite Theme again it all goes back, but
after two or three reboots I'm back to Windows XP default settings for these
items.

I too am having the same problem with XP pro. Was there a windows update? or
sumthin? Will gladly restore.
