Custom Controls in Compact Framework?

I have seen the MSDN piece on custom controls in the Compact Framework.
This example / guide is written in Visual C++. Can CF Custom Controls be
written in VB?

You can write custom controls in VB.NET, however you can not create design
time support using VB.NET, that is only possible using C#.

Unfortunately no, you must use C# in this version of Studio.

Well the actual anser is "yes you can create a control, but you cannot have
designer support for that control." My interpretation is that isn't really
a full control, though class-wise it's identical. Others have different
views.
