Cursor lock

My cursor locks in a "highlight" mode. that is, wherever I drag it, the
highlighted area expands and contracts. I have no control over any over
options, including closing without C-A-D. Effectively, I am locked. I then
must reboot. OPen to suggestions!

Do you see "EXT" or "ADD" down on the right side of Status Bar?

If so, hit F8 until either disappear.

If not, try clicking the wheel a couple of times if using a wheel mouse.
