Cursor location on slide in edit view

I am wondering if there is a way to determine the location of the
cursor on a slide when I am editing the slide.

I want to position the cursor on a specific location on a slide then
run a macro that places a picture top and left at the cursor location.

It seems to me that this should be possible since powerpoint does keep
track of the cursor location in order to show its position on the
rulers.

Thanks

I had seen this but it seems to be for locating the cursor position
within a text range. How can you locate the cursor position on the
slide assuming the slide is completely blank? I can determine the slide
height and width - there must be a way of figuring out the cursor
position relative to the slides dimensions.
