CTX branded CRT monitor problem

hi all,

purchased a CTX Value Line 19" CRT. worked fine for 5 months or so but now
the picture sometimes shakes and often the outputted screen moves in a
horizontal direction one way or another. no sooner than correcting it using
the controls on the monitor it does it again. it does this at all
resoultions and frequencies but it occurs less under linux than under
windows, is this significant? i'm hoping its not a cable issue as its one of
the crap sort that is fixed to the monitor, can these be changed by opening
up the case but without delving in to deep electronics? also considered that
it might be a power issue.
any ideas????

thanks

problem could also be the output from the computer or video card.

If possible, swap monitors for a while to see if the problem follows the
computer or the monitor.
