As Mark told you, Ctrl-Alt-Del (in Vista, Ctrl-Alt-Esc) brings up the
Task Manager. You can stop programs/processes using the Task Manager.
Simply pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del/Esc has never immediately shut down a
running program. As Mark told you, use Alt+F4.

Jimbo shared these words of wisdom:

Myomy, how long ago has it been that the three-finger-salute did that.
And for how many moons ago has Alt+F4 been introduced?

Hi Jimbo - You should be aware that there are some naughty webpages that
nothing can close but the main off button. The computer freezes. Alt/F4 is of
no use. Of course that never happened to me!
If one does not have quick access to the off button or the wall plug, one
should be careful. Wayne

You probably mean Ctrl+Shift+Esc for the Task Manager:

Ctrl+Alt+Del can be used for this function in Vista:

When I press Ctrl+Alt+Del on my PC, I get the Windows Security dialog
