Ctrl-Alt-Del

In previous versions of Windows, you could Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot the
computer when it hung up or froze. If I do this under XP Home I am presented
with a lot of running files. Which file(s) can I end the process of to
effect a re-boot?

In the top menu, one of the options should be "shut down".

Only if the welcome screen is on. No welcome screen no shutdown. But then one would get the domain dialog on CAD which includes logoff and shutdown.

you may either click shutdown tab present at the top of the takmanager
or may click end task against the particular application during running
of which the sytem froze.

Click "Shutdown" on the menu bar.

Right David, so if the user is going straight to task manager when using
CAD, then the shutdown option should be there in the menu bar. Least that's
what it sounds like to me.

I just hate state programs where how the behave and appear, depends on other state.
