It was suggested that I run scans to make sure no malware caused this.I did
and all was well.It was also suggested that I go to regional and languages
and un check whatever was part of mcrosot office to stop this.Either I did
not fully understand what was requested of me on the advance tab, but was
unable to remove a checked box which may be causing problem.I am a novice so
some of these solutions are not really clear to me as written.Still needing
help,Thanks

Okey found you, your post on the subject are scattered, you should have stuck
to one thread.
I don't know what scans you performed, nor if you updated your antivirus and
antispyware before scanning.
Anyways the file you identified (ctfmon) is located on c:\windows\system is
definitely bad while the legitimate ctfmon.exe located in c:\windows\system32
is legitimate, so we can leave that.
Now lets try to rename ctfmon (bad one) to stop it:
1. In windows explorer lets show hidden and system files. Tools menu >
Folder Options > View tab > Under files and folder > Put a check mark on
Display the contents of system folders, also put a tick on "show hidden files
and folders" Click the apply button then the OK button.
2. Now navigate to c:\windows\system\ctfmon.exe . Right click ctfmon.exe,
on the menu that appears, click rename, then just add .bad to the name (now
its ctfmon.exe.bad). This is just for the purpose of trouble shooting. If its
successful you can delete that file.
3. Its better to reboot then try if problem is still there.

If you are finding these instructions hard to understand maybe you can asked
for help from those who can.
