CSV file in Excel 2002

Dane.

Hi,

I'm using Excel 2002 and received an Excel attachment with
a .csv extension. If I try to open it Excel hangs. I can,
however, open it with Notepad and then open it in Excel
with commas everywhere (I can still read the data though).
Why was it sent /received this way? and is there a way to
open it initially from Excel?

Try changing the extension from csv to txt, then use Excel to open it
