i installed Call of Duty and Call of Duty UO this morning, installed fine, i
guess, then i patched No-cd patches to both of the games, and now i have a
problem. everytime i move the mouse, "csrss.exe" in the task manager goes
about 20~30% CPU usage. the percent varies on different programs i run, but
it lags especially full screen games. any help would be appreciated...

Why did you need to patch the files for no CD?

I guess you downloaded the patch from one of the crack sites which can do
absolutely anything. Just look at all the adware/malware/spyware...you get
when visiting such sites

There are 2 versions of this file. One is genuine & the second is malware
etc. What is the filesize/version or your csrss.exe? Is it signed by
Microsoft?

Check out these 2 articles:

Also, Microsoft have it down as the Nimba virus

microsoft.public.windowsxp.games might be a better newsgroup.
