csc.exe application error

When I shutdown my system I keep getting the above error message with an
'ok' button, then another form appears: 'WindowsParkingFormsWindow' with
an 'End Now' button.
I gather this error is to do with NET Framework, and I do have the SP1
installed, which is supposed to be the cure for this error message, but
it isn't , not on my machine anyway.

Any other solutions?
Thanks

Hi Bob,
Try to uninstall the Net Framework and Run Disk Clean Up then Defrag your
machine and make sure all clean from malwares and Viruses by scanning your
system.
Then Download and install the Net Framework 1.1 and get the SP1 from here:
FIX: You may receive an application error in Vbc.exe or Csc.exe when you run
a .NET Framework application

I uninstalled Net Framework and the service pack, did a reboot and now
have more errors than soft mick! I downloaded NET Framework 1.1, and
tried to install it but it won't. The installer says 'An error occurred
while the installer was initialising' and closes.
What can I do now?
Thanks

Hi Bob,
I believe your machine is forked and you need to perform a Repair or a clean
install for your Operating system, since uninstalling a program make all
these troubles, your OS not healthy.
Back up your data before doing any steps and then see your Options:

Well, not sure what you mean by 'forked' but I could guess :-)
I did a complete scan for virus and malware over the last day or so, as
well as finally managing to install NET Framwork 1.1. The failure
previously was probably due to a virus found called 'W9-SledgeA'
I then istalled the SP fix for NET Framework, and rebooted 2/3 times but
the csc.exe error message still remains. I'll just live with that for now!

Thanks anyway

Hi Bob,
Glad you get to the Bottom of this, good work on your behalf .

Try these steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

2... And also for malwares from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Run disk cleanup and Defrag in safe mode then Run this Command:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and let it run, you may be asked by the windows to
insert the XP CD to repair any corrupt files/folders found.
Good luck.

Hi nass,thanks for the followup.
First of all I deleted cookies, temp internet files and cache. I don't
use IE for browsing, but I did that all the same.
I already have adaware_se personal as well as Spybot SW&D, which I run
quite frequently.
Now when I ran 'sfc /scannow' a box came up asking for the Windows XP
Professional Service Pack 2 CD now', which I do,l but then it tells me
it is the wrong CD!
here I am not sure exactly what it asking for because I have:
A/ The genuine Microsoft blue coloured Windows Professional Service Pack
2 CD
2/ A genuine Windows Professional CD with the SP2 integrated into it, so
that when I do a re install, all the SP2 files are installed without
having to install SP2 separately.

Anyway, I tried both CD's but each one is the wrong CD??? How can that be?

Thanks

Hi Bob,
Try this link for your issue:
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
About the Path you can select this or browse to it:
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

If still no joy try Repair /Install, you will not lose any data, but it
advisable to have a backUp just in case.
here is a link to explain for you the Repair /install:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
Also if you have IE7 installed you can't perform Repair install unless you
have IE7 on that CD or you will have trouble repairing.
HTH.

Hi nass, ok after running sfc /scannow that didn't cure the csc.exe
problem, so I ended up doing a repair install. I then rebooted but still
the problem persists. As it only appears when I shutdown windowsXP, I am
going to live with it for a while, unless I manage to find a cure sooner.

'Let us know' sounds like you're from same part o' country as I am in't UK.

Thanks for your assistance

Hi Bob,
Download these tools:
"Process Explorer for Windows v10.21"
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/processexplorer.mspx
It will show you the program causing this and the running processes in the
background and you can start troubleshoot from there.

Hi nass, well I already had process explorer installed and didn't think
to use it to do any troubleshooting!
I finally traced the cause of the problem using process explorer, and it
wasn't by what it did show me , but rather by what it didn't!
I had a program running called Bit Meter ( to show the amount of data I
have downloaded), and it didn;t have anything against it in PE like the
other processes did, so I shut it down, then rebooted...voila, that was
the cause.
Thanks again for your assistance

No problem letting you know, its the least I could do.
Thinking back now, the csc.exe error only started since I installed that
program, but because I only reboot once in a while or if needed, then I
didn't put 2 and 2 together as it were.
Well Leeds Utd are in a right sorry state this weekend. Just been
reading the papers and it looks like there's going to be a right boxing
match between Bates and the other interested parties

Thanks again
