cryptographic service

Any one know how to start the cryptographic service? I am trying to run sp4
and it says it can't verify an .inf file because the cryptographic service
is not running. I checked the services mmc but there are no services with
cryptographic in the titles.

Thanks but those postings all suggest to turn off the cryptographic service,
the problem is that I don't have a cryptographic service installed, nor do I
have the ~\system32\catroot2 folder, I have a ~\system32\catroot folder but
no 2.
But any way, oddly enough, I noticed in event viewer that there were some
bad blocks so I ran scandisk, and that seemed to fix my sp4 and win update
problem.
