Cryptographic service error.

I was recently helping out a friend who was infected with
the MSBlaster virus.

When I try installing the patch I get an error
saying "Setup could not verify the integrity of the file
Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running
on this computer". I'm sure the problem could be fixed by
downloading the regular XP updates but this particular
person is on dialup with over 100 downloads from
microsoft.com in que.

I've looked around on the internet myself. I've found a
few sites that explain I need to delete some folders,
install some files and what not. Every site is telling me
something different.

Is there a file I can just download off microsoft and
bring over on a cd to their computer to fix this problem
so I may install that virus patch? Can I have some exact
information?

Control panel, administrative tools, services, locate the
Cryptographic service, see if it is runnin, if not right
click it and start it.
