crypt32.dll

I've been lurkin' here for awhile, and it seems that the majority of
problems with IE is scumware. Well, my IE, version
6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633, has been giving me the dreaded
"...needs to close. Sorry....." run around. Especially when I click on
html links, like in e-mails, etc. What I've done so far:

Spybot, S&D 1.2 dated 03/04 /04
Spyware Blaster 2.6.1
BHO Demon 1.0.0.3
CWShredder 1.53.2
Webroot Spy Sweeper 2.6.1 Build 45
And finally, by going to Tucows, I was able to download Ad-aware. I
had to use Tucows 'cos every time I went to Lavasoft's web site, the
Browser would give me the dreaded sign and then close. I have been
unable to re-install IE from the Windows web site because, yep, I E
has to close. (But at least IE is apologetic ! ) 8^)> Anyway, the
mod that is identified is crypt32.dll. Any suggestions? TIA..

I just did try Host file trick that was suggested here:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

and that seemed to allow me to access a coupla sites that I haven't
been able to lately. So, maybe the light at the end of the tunnel
isn't a train, after all!!

Did you update the Spybot and Ad-Aware definitions before scanning?

How current is your Virus definition table.

And,

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
