freeware.

EXCEPT that I cannot find any way to make it let me create crosswords
in the conventional way, i.e. first create the grid then fill in the
words.

The above program only seems to let you enter words and then it links
them up in a grid of its own design which does not produce the
conventional symmetric grids used for crosswords.

Anyone know of a program that does it properly?
