Crosstab in SQL database

I am converting an Access database into an Access Data Project using SQL
server as the database. I need to emulate an access crosstab query into the
SQL database. This may be more of a question for an SQL forum, but if anyone
has done this a pointer in the right direction may be helpful.

There's no real SQL server cross tab equivalent, but you can build it. Take
