Does anyone know of a way to delete text that is cross-referenced and have a
cross-reference in another location in the document automatically delete so
the Error! Reference Not Found does not display in the location the
cross-reference was originally created?

Thank you.

Deleting cross-references, and the items they reference, seems like a manual
task.

In theory, of course, you should be able to delete each cross-reference
field that contains a bookmark name whose corresponding bookmark object no
longer exists in the document. Have you considered asking in a programming
newsgroup, such as microsoft.public.word.vba.general, for assistance?

Hi NJ,

This problem is cause by the deletion of the bookmark that was created for the cross-reference. You can overcome this by deleting
the corresponding cross-reference fields. Alternatively, you can work around the problem by recreating the bookmark anywhere in the
document - there's no need for any text to be selected.

Cheers
