Cross-Reference - "Only Label and Number" Default

Word 2003 on XP
When entering a cross-reference for Tables and Figures, is it possible to
change the default setting from "Entire Caption" to "Only Label and
Numbering"?
I know that when you change this setting it remains, UNTIL you change from
say Tables to Figures, the setting goes back to Entire Caption.
I have a Keyboard shortcut to activate the Dialog box, but is there a way of
defining the setting along with the shortcut? Or a macro?
