Cropping w/Photosmart S20?

I just had to upgrade my old faithful HP Photosmart 5100 to an S20 due
to driver issues with WinXP. The S20 works well, but it's HP-supplied
software doesn't behave quite like the 5100 did. My question is...how
can I enlarge the cropped portion like the 5100 used to do?

Are there 3rd party software packages that will work with the S20?

Also just curious...what's the difference between S20 and S20xi?

Many thanks!

Carl-

To change the crop window, in the Preview Scan click on the magnifying glass
icon on the image, then drag the crop window edges wherever you want them.

By default, the scanner crops some. I run mine without automatic cropping.
This can be changed per the following from the "Readme" file:

6.1 How to turn off the automatic cropping
------------------------------------------
* The HP S20 scanner software will automatically crop
slightly into the image area of most slides, negatives and
photos (much like a photo finisher would). This feature
can be disabled and the full scan area can be used as the
default crop.

To disable automatic cropping:
Double-click the FullCrop.reg file in the
/shared/support directory of the HP PhotoSmart S20
Scanner CDROM.

To reenable automatic cropping (default behavior):
Double-click the NormCrop.reg file in the
/shared/support directory of the HP PhotoSmart S20
Scanner CDROM.

I don't know anything about the 5100 or S-20xi.
