If I add a scheduled task in Windows it will not run because I do not
have a password (I am the sole user and do not have a password). Is
there a freeware programme that will allow me to run a task without
having to create a password for my account?

TIA etc.

Its easy to create a password. (Since you didn't mention your OS, I will
presume it to be Windows XP.)

Open the Control Panel , click on User Accounts , click Change an
Account , pick your account , click Change my Password , enter a new
password.

I'm not positive, but I think nnCron Lite should do that for you. It
will run as a system service, so it shouldn't matter how users are
configured. <http://www.nncron.ru/>

You must be psychic. :-)

Thanks for the quick repsonse, Brian, but I was trying to avoid having a
password at all as I am bone lazy.

Wo, nice app! Thanks Q.

Pity I downloaded the full version instead of reading the post properly,
but thanks to Total Uninstaller recommended here it will be easy to
replace the app. ;-)

Another gem to add to my "must have" list.
Ta muchly.

Something a little smaller:

Cron for Windows 9x/NT, Cron NT service

When you settle on one, let us know the why's & wherefor's, will ya?

I think nnCron Lite (note the "Lite") is the best one. Originally I
wanted something for a friend who wanted to be able to run his torrent
client in the early hours and nnCron is probably a little beyond his
point-and-click experience (and the Windows Task Scheduler only runs if
you use an account with a password attached).

nnCron + = 150k runtime memory, small programme footprint, fast, basic.

nnCron - = ini file editing (not a window with buttons), start/stop via
batch files (can create shortcuts).

The Pro version of nnCron (shareware) has a windowed config editor,
starts/stops from systray and is simpler to use but I shouldn't mention
it as it isn't freeware. ;-)
