CROA - clear read only attributes

When you copy data from a CD-ROM to your PC, of course they copy as
read-only. This may not a problem at first, but if you want to work on
those files, you've got a lot of manual retagging ahead of you--file by
file by file. CROA allows you to remove the read-only flags from
folders, subfolders, and files and get down to business. Once
installed, it's easy to access from Window's context menu.

I've had this program for ages and it's brilliant after copying files
back to your hard drive from CD backups.

Instead of using Explorer to copy files from the CD use Servant
Salamander, the two pane Explorer. It has a setting to automatically
removed the RO attribute and so no need to have additional utilities.

I downloaded this program, 1.52 which is freeware long back and do not
have the url handy. But copies are available in many freeware
archives. Google can help. The help file shows
http://vorvan.sh.cvut.cz/salamander/ as the home page.

Much simpler than a program .......... a right click context entry for
removing the read only attribute from all files in a folder and sub-
solders
