Critical update, KB867801

Since installing this critical update, starting IE has slowed to a crawl,
even creating a new post, with OE, on this ng, is delayed, though opening
the OE newsreader is not effected.

I should also say, I am now often getting a not responding msg, when closing
IE

This update is now really beginning to bug me, with slow responses in many
apps, inc IE, winexplorer etc
I have checked the KB article and it appears that there is no uninstall for
this patch, although I don't recollect the details stating that it couldn't
be uninstalled.
So is there any hope of uninstalling it?

Troubleshooting my own little headache, I read that this hotfix is intended
for win xp, not win2k. Or at least win2k was not listed in the "more
information" article. Is that an error in the article, or in the windows
update? My windows update is trying to install it, but is not succeeding
(but that may be due to my existing problem, described in another post). I
read in another post that windows update was trying to install 3 different
inappropriate patches (post "Q814078 erroneously offered for W2K SP4"), so
perhaps this is another such error. I don't know.
