Creating Winword file association

Hi. I run vista and when I browse to make word 2007 the default application
to open.doc files with, it does not then appear in the available list of
programmes once I have clicked on it. Forums seem to suggest eding registery
files, without telling me the steps to do this. So i have to save all
attachments and then open from Word. Thanks for your time.
 
To restore file associations for Word, do this: Click the Start button, and
then click Run. Type:

winword /r

and press Enter.
