Associating .doc files with Word 2007

For some reason I cannot associate Word 2007 with .doc extension documents.
Word is not listed as a recommended program, then when I browse and I click
on WINWORD in the program selections it will not bring it back as an option.

Did you check the 'always open with this application' check box in the
dialog you browsed to?
