Creating & Using an Email Template

Hi Everyone,

We could certainly use some help. We are not regular Outlook users and I
have to admit, Microsoft seems to make everything more complicated than it
needs to be. All we want to do is create an email template so that we can use
that template again when sending future messages.

In Netscape, we can drag-drop a sent message into a Template folder and
voila its done. I can now go to that folder, double click the message and
use it again to send that message again when needed. It doesn't appear to be
that easy in Outlook. Not surprised. That's why we call it Micro$oft.

We searched through the forum and one thread discussed how to create a
template as a OFT extension, but then, we're not clear how to use that
template again. There is also some confusion in the discussions of other
threads using Microsoft Word as the editor or WordMail.

We did not find anything simple about this in Outlook help, certainly in the
KB there doens't seem to be anything when you ask a simple question like
"create email template". The fact that we are spending any amount of time
trying to figure out templates in Outlook is absolutely ridiculous.

Can any MVP's help us out?

Thanks.

Hello,

Thank you very very much for your response. It does amaze us that the
answer lies on a website other than at Micro$oft. This web link did indeed
answer not only how to create a template, but then how to use them. The
various options and descriptions of the various template methods were helpful
too.

Having said that, I have some questions to the folks at Micro$oft:
1. Why do templates have to be so difficult? Drag/Drop an email into a
"Template" folder and lets be done with it. The number of clicks and steps
for templates is absolutely amazing!

2. Why is it that we were not able to readily find an asnwer to "How to
Create a Outlook Template" and "How to use a Outlook Template" within the
Outlook Help or through your Knowledge Base online. We tried forever to no
avail and ultimately came to the forums to post our frustrated message.

Anyway, hopefully, this post will help others too.

But asking them here rarely gets the attention of anyone at Microsoft.

The original poster can repost those two last questions as suggestions for
Microsoft using this web interface. Melih, when you click New to make a new
message, make it a Suggestion type. If you don't see that in your list, post
back and I'll try to get you to the right place.

What version of Outlook are you using? I can give you (or find for you) the
info you need.
