Creating sub tasks in excel like MS project

G

Guest

I'm having to create a project plan in excel and would like to create a main
task/sub task drop down box like in MS project i.e. you could have a list of
main tasks each with a little cross by them and if you click on that cross
all sub tasks come into view.

Any suggestions - baring in mind i'm not very good at excel!

Thanks

Select the rows, then Data>Group & Outline>group.

But is there a way to do it just like Project where it will indent in the
cell and put the "+" or "-" next to the actual cell and not over in the
margin? We want the "visual" of the indents in the cells.

Thanks,

No. But why, the effect is the same.

No, the effect is not the same. Like I said, we need to see the "visual" of
the step downs in the actual cells. We create traveler trees for fabrication
drawings. So the first drawing will have some parts, then one of the parts
will reference a sub drawing. That drawing will have parts and possibly one
of the parts will reference another sub drawing, and so on. We need to see
that step down of drawings as a quick visual of the tree.

Thanks though.

Maybe create a userform with a treeview.
