Creating New Document

In Windows Explorer when you 'right click' you are given the option to
create a new folder or a shortcut. You can also select a variety of file
types to create, for example a Word Document or a Text Document.

Does anyone know how to add a new file type to this menu? I suspect it
requires some changes to the registry but I'm not sure where to start.

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP
SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Make a dummy file in the program concerned, save it with whatever
extension is appropriate. Then in TweakUI's Templates page take create
and browse it to this document

Thanks for the added info Alex. I would hope no one would
need the pre-SP1 version!!!
