creating network bridge

L

larna

I am unable to create network bridge between two connections: LAN and
Firewire. Each of them functions as expected but when I select both of them
and right click one of them, I don't get "Bridge Connections" in the menu.
It just doesn't even show up.

Anybody knows what's going on?

Make sure that both connections are enabled and connected. Hold down
the Ctrl key while clicking both of them.

i use ctrl key when selecting them, and they are both connected at that
time.

while doing the same thing on my laptop i get "brdge connections" in my
menu, but not on the other computer.

i have winxp installed. is there any registry key which might got
corrupted, and where network bridging might be disabled?

Hi
May be this can Help:

Jack (MVP-Networking).

thx for the info but i've seen that page before. I know how to configure
network bridge, and i know why i need it, that's not problem for me.

Problem is that there is just no menu entry when i right click on
selected connections. It's relly weird.

Is there a key somewhere in the registry that enables or disables
possibility of using networg bridges? Can you somewhere turn it on/off?

thx for replies

Make sure that both connections are enabled as well as connected.

Both of my connections are enabled and connected. One is connected to my
switch/router via ethernet cable and the other one 1394 net adapter
connected to my laptop.
My main computer and laptop see each other through firewire, can share
files etc.
Main computer has access to internet(DSL) through router and that
connection works as I am sending these messages through that connection.

Now, I would like to allow laptop to have internet access through
netowrk bridge on main computer, but, as i said earlier, there is no
"bridge connections" menu item in right click menu.
Normally, I know how to setup network bridge, but this is very weird
situation. And frustrating a bit.

PS: I can't use laptop's ethernet port becouse of missing drivers, and
no, there are no drivers for it.

thx for helping

Hehe, i forgot to mention that. No, there are no relevant entries in
event viewer. I already checked that before.

I'm sorry, but I'm out of ideas. If it were my computer, I'd go buy
an inexpensive PCMCIA or USB NIC and use it instead of FireWire.

Unfortunately, PCMCIA or USB NIC as well as onboard ethernet are not
supported. So I'm stuck with firewire, which wouldn't be a problem if
there was no error on main computer. F*** it, i'll continue digging for
solution.

thx anyway, nice to see people actually trying to help.
