creating logical drives

After creating a drive do you have to commit the changes
as you would do in Windows NT 4.0
 
It would be nice to know exactly what steps you had taken but if it was through the Disk Management MMC then no, it is a dynamic process.

However, if you placed a pagefile on this new partition then a reboot would be necessary.
