I'm using Nero 5 Burning rom to create cd's on my
system.The problem I experience is that the cd's I
created are not readable on any system even on the that
created it. I've got info from Nero.com to download a
package from Microsoft witch should rectify this problem.
I did downloaded the package (Q320174) and received the
next error message when I run it: "Setup has detected
that the Service Pack version of the system installed is
newer than the update you are applying to it. You can
only install this update on a computer with no Service
Packs installed" How can I fix this problem because it's
driving me crazy and cost me a lot of CDR's.

make sure you are "closing" the cd.
depending on how you create the CD,
you can either have it burned & finished all at once, or
you can leave it open so you can add files later.
make sure you "close" the cd.!

also,

1) really old CD players (1X, 2X speeds)
can have probs reading recordable media.

2) insalling InCD from the nero disk on the other systems
should allow the other systems to read the CD too.. but
then you have to make sure InCD is installed on every
system you desire to read from.

have fun

Upgrade to Nero 6 at the Nero web site, then go to:

http://www.nero.com/en/631941379891217.php

and download and install Nero 6 InCD. Nero 6 InCD formats the CD-RW so it
can be used like any other Windows drive (copy, paste, delete etc.) and I
haven't found a PC system that won't read a CD-RW formatted with Nero 6
InCD. In a couple of rare cases I've had to reboot the other system to see
the files on a Nero 6 InCD formatted CD-RW, but I've always been able to
access them, copy them, etc...

If using a Mastering program like Nero, this is not the case.. It
applies to CD-RW disks formatted for use in InCD by drag and droop

I know of no package from Microsoft for this. But Nero has gone through
a lot of updates to get round problems,. Check which version you have
and get a new update.

The message is a little off kilter, but the first post here is
essentially correct, although the terminology used is wrong.

You can close a data "session" on a CD without closing the CD itself.
When you close the session, you can still write another session to the
CD.

If you close the CD, then it can be written to no more.

If you close a session, and not the CD - which is the normal setting of
Nero - you can easily read it on other machines though, So the 'close
the CD is incorrect in the context
