Is there a freeware app that can create BIN/CUE images straight from a
CD like CDRWin does? I had a look at the CDBurnerXPPro website but
could not find anything on this.

burnatonce

Overview:

burnatonce can master data and audio discs, read/write image files and
copy on the fly. It's drag and drop interface has multi-language support
and is fully compatible with XP themes. Multisession and bootable disc
mastering is supported as well as long filename support using Joliet,
Long Joliet and Rockridge. Extra long filename support is provided with
the ISO9660:1999 and UDF filesystems. Audio discs can be compiled from
wav, mp3, mp2, ogg and flac files as standard while support for other
audio formats can be added optionally. CD-Text can be written from the
built in editor, imported from freedb, read from media tags or extracted
from filenames. Pauses between tracks can also be set as silence, pregap
or postgap of varying lengths.

Ah, I had checked that one once, but not thoroughly enough,
apparently. Thanks for that, Arjan.

I assumed the BIN/CUE format was proprietary to GoldenHawk, as RAR is
to RarLabs. Most can read it, only one can create it...

Maybe this one could help you:
http://cdmage.orcon.net.nz/frames.html

Kindly regards.

Indeed, a very useful program. I've been using it for more than three
years now, mainly for scanning images for errors.

But I don't see how it would be helpful in creating BIN/CUE images.
Did I overlook something?

CDmage seems to be able to save CD images as bin/cue files (Menu "File",
"Save as", "Save CD image file as").
So you could create .iso from a cd using other freewares, then open with
CDmage and save your bin/cue cd image.
I've tried just now and seems to work well.

Kindly regards.

I see. Never noticed that option. But it wouldn't work with
multi-track images, would it?
