I'm trying to create a second partition on my machine. I've followed the
advice found on a number of webpages, but when I right click to open up the
options menu "Computer Management\Disk Management" I'm not getting a "cretate
new partition" option ( whhich everything that I have read today implied that
I should be getting.

There is a screenshot here ~

Any ideas why this option isn't available to me, or another way of going
about doing this?

I'm running WinXP Home Edition with service pack 2.

You cannot create a Partition in an active C drive (Your o/s drive) within
win.
You need to use a third party tool eg Partition Magic, or you use the win cd
to blow away your installation and create partitions prior to clean
installing win. (You will lose everything on your C drive)

I should have added the win tools cannot 'amend' any partition without first
deleting the partition
