Creating a new database

I am trying to create a new database in my website using SQL Server. I have
chosen an external connection but actually no matter what kind of connection
I try to make, I end up with the same problem. I am using FP2003 and after I
provide the necessary data to set up the connection (database type; server
name; database name) I get an error that says "the server encountered an
error while processing a database request". I know the database type and
server name are correct. I am using a brand new name in the database name
field. Do I need an actual database on the server or can I use a new name and
expect FP to create the database for me? Or am I doing something else wrong?

Thank you in advance for your reply.
Regards,

The database has to be created on the server. FP can then connect to it.

You have to have access to SQL Server. Suggest you try the MS SQL server newsgroup.
