Create a database connection to Oracle server

I have just started to use Frontpage 2003 in order to create a dynamic
webpage on our Sharepoint site using an Oracle database.
I'm having problems when trying to create a database connection.
When I click on Add to Catalog under Database Connections it pops up a
Configure Database Connection window. Under Server Name I entered the name of
the Oracle server. Under Authentication I selected Save this username and
password in the data connection, I entered a user name & password that has
rights to access the database. When I click Next I get "Server Error: An
error occured while retrieving the list of Databases from server: The data
retrieval service encountered an error during connection to the data source.
Contact the server administrator for more information."

I must be missing something, permissions, server setting ...
Also would it be better to use a custom script to create the connection and
if so does anyone have an example of a custom script?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
